Hydrogen Storage for off the grid cabin

Hydrogen Storage for off the grid cabin

The Loft is a log cabin situated on the western slopes of the Blue Mountains, west of Sydney. It is off the grid and uses solar energy and battery storage for electricity and LPG for cooking and water heating. Over the next year, we will transition all energy storage to hydrogen.

The first step will be to upgrade the solar panels to triple the capacity.

The current power shed will be replaced by a larger shed, to enable adequate storage, display and educational opportunities.

The hydrogen will be stored on site and fuel cells will be used to generate electricity during low solar exposure.

Finally, LPG will be replaced by hydrogen for water heating and cooking.

We expect a number of technical and safety challenges.
